What Does That Mean To You?
Probably not a lot, other than maybe perhaps some company looking through various options when considering either getting broadband for the first time or switching providers.
For me it meant so much more. I am married with three daughters and a lovely wife. That’s not to say the three daughters are not lovely as well, in fact, they are adorable, BUT they can cost quite a bit of money from time to time.
So what has this got to do with broadband reviews I almost hear you ask, well let me tell you. I came in from work one day and sat down at the kitchen table to wade through a handful of bills that had dropped onto the hallway carpet with a light thud, a number of hours earlier.
As I opened the first one my jaw dropped and nearly hit the floor. It was from BT and it was a HUGE bill, almost £300. I checked through the itemised calls and found that it was one of my lovely teenage darling daughters (who has quite a passion for chatting on the phone) who had made the majority of the calls.
I went to see her about it, and she said there was no point having a phone if she could not use it. Well, I won’t tell you what I said, but I was NOT amused. And who would be?
Over the next few months, the bills gradually got higher and higher, and eventually (I am a slow learner) I decided I really needed to do something about this.
I considered putting a bar on the telephone, but then if my family needed to contact me in an emergency? No, that was not an option. I started to look around at the various options that were available to me, and was really pleased to find one company, which for me, stuck out from the rest.
That company was Tiscali.
I had reviewed many of the other offerings in the marketplace at the time, and it was difficult making a choice as there were so many options to choose from. Primarily though, I knew what I wanted. I was getting 1.5 mb broadband, so I did not want to be dropping below that. I also desperately needed a good telephone package as well. (Remember the teenage daughter :-))
And so, Broadband Reviews was born. But more importantly, I had come to an ideal solution in relation to my daughter. I was able to get a telephone and broadband package where I had free calls anytime through the day or at the weekends, PLUS, I ended up with broadband which was 2.2mb and sometimes going up over 3 mb, which I was very happy with as I live in a rural type area. (Connection speeds were never great)
After being with BT, Tiscali has saved me an absolute fortune, and as well as that, my teenage daughter loves them to bits, because she gets to jibber jabber on the phone all day long.
And me? Well my bills are down to around £20 a month. I cannot complain.
